How do Series EE bonds work? My daughters have a couple that say 50, but the gov. calc. says they are worth 27 - series ee bonds worth

A few years ago my daughter received a pair of Series EE bonds, say up to $ 50 dollars. I just stated, and go to the website to find its value. He said they were valued at 27.90.
They were bought at a price of $ 25.00 and at maturity will be worth 50? or am I missing something?

We buy $ 25 for adults and $ 50

Modern U.S. $ 50 reached about $ 50.

Paper Series EE savings bonds are sold at half their face value, and then pay 25 for a $ 50 bonus. The Treasury Department guarantees that the newly issued Series EE bonds that their value will double in 20 years from the date of issue. This is known as the original due date.

Electronic connections sold through Treasury Direct are purchased at face value, this means you pay $ 25 for a $ 25 bonus.

Is yes, they were acquired at 25, have a maturity of 50, and can occur even after the interest and profit. Hide and password for another 10 years. Good luck
